This year, A Journey Into Islam will feature an ethnic dinner with an assortment of dishes, reflecting this year’s event theme – Diversity.

To get your taste buds going, the appetizers will be pakoras — deep fried vegetables coated in chickpea flour and spices  with sweet and spicy tamarind chutney on the side.

For the main course, guests will be served a crowd favourite—rich, creamy butter chicken with naan, rice pilaf and a cool yogurt raita (sauce) on the side. To cater for our vegetarian guests, we will also serve a vegetable curry.

To finish off the meal on a sweet note, guests will be treated to baklava. This sumptuous dessert consists of a variety of nuts, including pistachios and cashews, artfully layered between thin sheets of pastry and sweet honey.

On that note, if you are a member of the Az-Zahraa community, check out our first ever AJII Bake Sale Fundraiser! This will be taking place at the youth-organized Milad-un-Nabi program (celebration of the birthday of the Holy Prophet) this Monday, December 28 at the Az-Zahraa Islamic Centre (men’s and ladies’ foyers).

Looking forward to sharing a meal with all of you on January 30!
