Take A Journey Into Islam this January

On Saturday, January 28, 2017, the Az-Zahraa Islamic Centre will once again be holding its doors open for the sixth annual, youth-organized ‘A Journey Into Islam’ event, which has over 300 guests in attendance each year. The evening will begin with a demonstration of prayer, followed by a delicious dinner with short talks by guest speakers, including Azhar Nasser and Laya Behbahani, a Business & Policy Analyst – Police Studies Centre at Simon Fraser University’s School of Criminology.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Amyn B. Sajoo will be delivering the keynote address for A Journey Into Islam 2016.

Dr. Sajoo will speak to the event theme, Diversity in Islam, exploring the variety of cultural and ethnic expressions within the Muslim community and the different ways Muslims understand and practice their faith.

Over the years, A Journey Into Islam has grown and evolved due to feedback we’ve received from our guests, exhibitors, and volunteers. We hope to continue producing a new and exciting event for those who attend year after year. 

In 2014, we made the decision to introduce a theme to each event, which was reflected in the keynote address and exhibits. We began with with ‘Science in Islam,’ and last year we explored the theme of ‘Social Responsibility in Islam.’
